First Impressions

Well, what a weekend we all had. First impressions on walking into the hall at the cricket ground were of space and light and a fabulous view across the grassy cricket pitch with a backdrop of St James church. The spacing between the tables was enough to give privacy to any conversations or readings, but close enough to ensure interest led from one exhibitor to another. A calm yet exciting atmosphere downstairs, with a restaurant, the hospice stand and workshops area upstairs, with of course, an even better view.

The Traders, Therapists and Clairvoyants

The usual air of anticipation and concentration, traders unwrapping objects, preparing their stalls and greeting other stall holders. it's hard work to transport and display their wares without breakages, last minute price checks, then settling into their spot for the weekend, while eyeing up new exhibitors and looking out for familiar faces. All this before the day has officially started!

The intuitive readers as well, checking their tables, crystals, cards or ribbons, all the while preparing to go into heightened consciousness (while looking normal and not alarming anyone) and staying calm. How brilliant is that? Not easy to do whilst so much is happening! Also the healers and body-workers, usually used to working in a quiet room or sanctuary, creating their own little area of sacred space in a busy room takes a certain type of skill.

The Organisers

Mike, Beverley and Nikki did a brilliant job running around making sure everyone was OK. Last minute doubts vied with excitement on their faces as they readied themselves at the door.

Although both Mike and Beverley have done lots of work individually, this was their first major joint venture, and also the first time Nikki had worked with Beverley and Mike on a big project, so much to take into account when organising a day like this, breath held in case it rains and everyone stays at home, how many tickets available, car parking, chairs needed, the list is endless and this is where you need reliable help.

The Volunteers

What a wonderful group of ladies, ready to fetch tea, sell tickets, carry chairs or stand for hours at a cold doorway, all for the love of, and belief in, Mike, Beverley and Nikki. (Although some blackmail may of been involved in some instances) They hadn't all met each other before - Mike with his contingent, Bev with hers, and NikKi's too, yet within minutes all were friends and ready to greet the public with a happy face.

Saturday and Sunday

With a room full of everything you just might want, or need to enhance a spiritual path, candles, books, lamps, oils, jewellery, drums, home-made soaps, chocolate and cards, blankets and remedies, the day began. People started to trickle in, quiet to began with, then slowly more and more came through the door and a buzz began. Announcements made telling of talks and workshops, and a very relaxed atmosphere.

The Result?

A restaurant with happy people comparing readings and looking at purchases. A workshop space with one after another brave spirited teacher sharing knowledge. It's one thing to know something, but quite different to be brave enough to stand in front of everyone and share it. Tired but happy readers and stall holders, and Mike, Beverley and Nikki finally dare to relax! Then a fantastic on the spot musical performance by Sika and Grey Wolf on drums and didgeridoo, with involuntary hip shaking and body jiggling amongst many of us. Who was that annoying woman with the microphone? Sorry, that was me...... I didn't want to hand it back at the end of the day!

Hi to all the lovely people I met. Can't wait till next year, see you all then, Margi
